The Study and Monitoring on the Fish Resource in the 15 Fishing Lots in Kandal and Phnom Penh in the Fishing Season of 2015-2016

The working group of the Tonle Sap Authority led by Professor Lim Puy, with the participation of officials of the Department of Exploitation Control and Conservation and Department of Natural Resource, studied and monitored the fish resource in the 15 fishing lots in Kandal and Phnom Penh on November 15, 2015. Summary results are as follows:
- The water height of Tonle Sap at Prek Kdam Station: On November 15, 2015, it was lower than the approximately of 1.50m if compared to 2014
- The water speed along the 15 fishing lots were different: the nearest fishing lots had the water speed of 0.70 m/s to 0.80 m/s,  while the furthest fishing lots had the water speed from 1.1 m/s to 1.4 m/s
- The fishing yield in the nearest fishing lots was approximately 20 kg / day, while the furthest fishing lots was around 5 kg / Today only
- Approximately 90%, one of about 48 fish species, which is derived from a sample, has a length of 8 cm. High-value fish species are Trey Kes, Trey Broma, Trey Khlang Hay, Trey Pra, Tre Andat Chder and Trey Chror Keng, all of which are the fish that weighs under 100g.

The team of the Tonle Sap Authority will continue monitoring on the fishing yield, type of fish, length / weight as well as the measurement of water speed and water height until the end of January 2016.​
